Leon Buche - Soundtrack Unseres Lebens

Release 2025/04/04
What is freedom, really? This is the central question of the album "Soundtrack of Our Lives", composed, arranged, and written by singer-songwriter Leon Buche, who hails from Potsdam. However, the album explores freedom not in the political sense, as the term is often used, but rather as a form of responsibility, empathy, and understanding.

Leon Buche's music and lyrics invite reflection and, song by song, illuminate the different forms of freedom. The core message is always that every individual should be able to live out their personal form of freedom at any time, regardless of religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

This theme runs throughout all his songs, starting with the single "Irgendwohin" (formerly the opening song of the show program aboard TUI Cruises/Mein Schiff 1), which primarily deals with global freedom. The freedom of one's own perspective -- the ability to perceive life both in the moment and as a larger whole -- is impressively portrayed in the piano-driven semi-ballad "Sinfonie Der Momente" (Symphony of Moments).

Other songs, such as "Es Kommt Wie Es Kommt" (It Comes As It Comes), "Puzzle", and "Wenn Was Fehlt" (When Something's Missing), touch on inner spiritual freedom, or the kind of freedom that comes from friendship or a relationship.

Although Leon Buche is still considered a newcomer with this solo project, he draws from his extensive experience as a musician and songwriter. For many years, he toured Europe as a classical pianist, winning over 30 international piano competition awards, and performing solo recitals and concerts with renowned orchestras in more than 20 countries. As a songwriter for notable acts like Glasperlenspiel, DieLochis, and Phela, he is also a well-known figure in the pop music world, including as an exclusive songwriter for Universal Publishing.

His trademarks include not only his virtuosity as a concert pianist (which far exceeds standard pop norms) but also his cinematic arrangements, often inspired by composers like Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, and Sergei Rachmaninoff -- as well as his warm, raspy voice, reminiscent of modern alternative rock acts such as AnnenMayKantereit.

Particularly noteworthy is the piano ballad "Leuchtturm" (Lighthouse), which evolved from a Chopin prelude and offers a truly unique listening experience -- delivering a sound perhaps never before heard in this form within the German pop (Deutschpop) genre.

As shown in almost all of Buche's lyrics, openness always plays a key role, accompanied by the motto: "We have this one life" (as expressed in the chorus line of the album song "Satellit"), and a willingness to embrace spontaneity and serendipity.

This openness led to three songs on the album being co-written and produced with fellow Brandenburg singer-songwriter Leona Heine. One of those songs, "Zeit Zu Träumen" (Time to Dream), originally intended as a trailer song for the 2025 Women's European Championship, unexpectedly became a success in June 2024. Within weeks, it received radio airplay from stations such as RBB, Antenne Brandenburg, Antenne Thüringen, SWR Radio, NDR Radio, and more -- also leading to numerous TV appearances, including RBB zibb, NDR Kultur, and ARD (Tagesschau24).

Leon Buche's songs offer solutions as well as a symphony of beautiful moments, special harmonies, and memorable melodies, all wrapped in his distinctive blend of classical music, cinematic soundtrack vibes, and singer-songwriter artistry.
