Anni Pohto and Emanuele Profeti Release New Future Afrohouse Remix of, "Dancing With The Souls"!
The Finnish singer-songwriter, Anni Pohto, has collaborated with Italian techno DJ and producer Emanuele Profeti on a fresh take to Pohto's "Dancing With The Souls" released last month.
"Dancing With The Souls" is a song that touches on the concept of loneliness, and how the nature around us, as well as the spirits of our ancestors keep us company. This new remix shows another form of connectedness that combats these feelings of loneliness, connection through different parts of the world. Anni Pohto is from Finland, but has been living in London for the past few years. Emanuele Profeti, however, is originally from Italy, but has been living in Spain. Regardless of their differences locationally, the two have come together through this remix in a showcase of music bringing people together regardless of location.
This is not the first time Anni Pohto has worked with DJs to breathe new life into her music. She has also done so with one of her most popular tracks "everywoman", creating "North / South remixes" EP, featuring remixes with two different female DJs - one from Finland and one from South Africa, thus emphasizing yet again the global connection she is building.
"I can see myself dancing, alone yet together, fully freeing myself in the movement - just like my ancestors did. This remix really captures that special feeling of being free and connected at the same time. I love how Emanuele was able to take the core message of not being alone, and make that the musical centre of the remix."
"When I first heard Dancing With The Souls by Anni, I thought it was such an ethereal and exotic song at the same time, that it was perfect for a remix that would preserve the character and soul of the track, while also giving it an even more danceable spirit with new future-house and afro-house sounds -- capable of reaching as many people as possible and bringing them together with Anni in her ballad, which was no longer just her own, but belonged to all ethereal souls," Profeti states.
"Dancing With The Souls" is a song off of Pohto's upcoming album The Rising, releasing on the 26th of September.
About Anni Pohto:
Anni Pohto is a Finnish singer, songwriter, pianist and producer now living in London. She has worked with some of the biggest artists in Finland, and since her move to the UK has warmed-up for British band Scouting For Girls on their sold-out UK-tour in 2023. The music video for her song "33610" got an Honorary Mention at the Berlin Music Video Awards in 2024, and "everywoman" was placed as the opening theme for a Finnish TV-series "Suhde2".
About Emanuele Profeti:
Emanuele Profeti is an Italian DJ and music producer currently based in Valencia, Spain, where he performs in some of the city's most popular venues. Emanuele began his DJ career in 1996 in his hometown of Ancona, Italy, where he quickly developed a passion for the vibrant dance sounds of the '90s and everything with a funky soul--anything that could make people move on the dancefloor. Over time, he became a devoted fan of techno in all its forms, from the raw Berlin sound to trance and progressive (as DJ Mauro Picotto taught). These influences gradually shaped his DJ sets over the years, until 2002, when he discovered the hardgroove genre through the legendary Neapolitan school of Marco Carola and Gaetano Parisio. This sound was a revelation to him--combining tribal rhythms, funk, and deep groove within a techno framework, it brought together everything that had always inspired his musical journey. In recent years, Emanuele has also started producing his own tracks, sharing his original electronic productions through his DJ sets. While his music is primarily rooted in techno-groove and tribal-tech, Emanuele has never forgotten his first love--dance music--which he continues to follow closely as a passionate listener. This broad musical background makes him an open-minded and versatile producer, always experimenting with new sounds and genres. His recent productions also include remixes and tracks influenced by contemporary dance styles such as future house and afro-house.
