Blending indie-folk textures with the rich coastal rhythms of his homeland, his music inspires from tradition while pushing sonic boundaries. Telling stories in his mother tongue Spanish, as well as English, he also uses invented languages that arise from improvisation and channeling.
"Paulrhythms" is the solo project of Peruvian born, Berlin based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Paul Hoyle Gutierrez.
Blending indie-folk textures with the rich coastal rhythms of his homeland, his music inspires from tradition while pushing sonic boundaries. Telling stories in his mother tongue Spanish, as well as English, he also uses invented languages that arise from improvisation and channeling. His music combines Susana Baca's grooves, Ben Howard's soundscapes and José González intimacy.

While in Peru, he collaborated as a session musician with several local bands, getting the chance to play with Jenny Berggren (Ace of Base), open for Donavon Frankenreiter and We the Lion. He has shared his craft on stages in Thailand, Mexico, United States and a number of venues throughout Perú including the National Opera House. Following the release of his debut album Tiempo Libre (2018), he relocated to Berlin, where he's been actively touring throughout Germany..

In Berlin, he has performed as a bassist with bands like Sonic Interventions, Douniah, Batila & the Dreambus, and Skyline Sun. His performances include appearances at Le Guess Who, Rudolstadt Festival, HKW Berlin, Elbphilharmonie's Hope n Air Festival, and Huxley's Neue Welt.

In 2021, he joined the 3-time Latin Grammy Winner Susana Baca--a lifelong musical influence--for her album Palabras Urgentes, contributing backing vocals to the tracks "Sorongo" and "Vestida de Vida." He later opened for Baca at Berlin's Gretchen Club in 2023, marking a full-circle moment in his career.

In 2024, Hoyle led "Historias que Inspiran", a self-initiated project exploring Latin American migration stories in Germany. The initiative, designed to foster dialogue and creative expression, culminated in the release of a collaborative EP. This project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth in the frame of Demokratie Lebens and VIA Berlin.

In 2025, as a member of Sonic Interventions, he received three nominations at the Deutscher Jazzpreis. He is currently completing his second solo EP.
